The Power to Influence a Generation

Children are like sponges, soaking up every experience, and storing it away for future reference. Sometimes children’s experiences cause them to adopt erroneous beliefs about what’s right or wrong. It is my hope that after you watch the following video, whether or not you are a parent, you will keep in mind that children are watching you.

Watching the video sparked a conversation between my wife, @Tonya_H, and I that prompted her to ask, “What beliefs do you want to impart to our children and the next generation?” She went on to ask, “If you reflect on your own behaviors, attitudes, and actions, do they line up with what you want to impart to our children?” Then she said, “If they don’t, then you must change because your children are watching you, and you certainly realize that you are influencing our children and the next generation.”

So what about you? How would you answer those same poignant questions? Food for thought, aren’t they?

With your success in mind,

Ron

Thank you for this mind awakening post. I just spent the weekend with my nieces and I had to monitor my actions (more so than before) because they are at the age where they pick up everything! But it’s not just actions like not cursing when someone cuts me off in the car. It’s much more than that. It’s doing the little things like showing gratitude, patience and acceptance. And I think by changing our behavior and actions in front of our children, we in turn change ourselves. If we want to be better people for our children, let’s do it for both parties. Do it for ourselves, too! We can make the world a better place.

How alarming. Frankly speaking, even now I still remember some of the things happened back when I was 3-4 years old. It’s true, children observe, and they remember what they saw, regardless of understanding it or not. It’s a thoughtful post, a reminder for us all to be alert with our behaviours.

Not that I’m totally impressed, but this is a lot more than I expected when I stumpled upon a link on Furl telling that the info is awesome. Thanks.

  6. I watched it with my son. My 4 year old said, some adults were behaving well.

Good to see you again, will RT this.
