I truly value your time so I’ll jump straight into telling you a little bit about myself.
Drained and Bored
During the late 80s, I worked as an accountant for a large savings and loan… and, it wasn’t long before sitting in a cubicle, staring at a computer, and punching numbers on ten key became a drain and boring.
Sometime later, I was handed some new accounts that needed a lot of attention – and interaction with senior department heads.
Fortunately, my manager wasn’t too keen on working to resolve issues involving my accounts that required dealing with other heads of the departments.
However, I had begun learning a new, exciting, and powerful skill that helped me resolve interdepartmental issues with these department heads that my manager couldn’t.
As a result of my new found ability, I was promoted, given a raise, and allowed to interact with senior department heads that rarely met with someone in my position.
Unfortunately, 18 months later the S&L failed, and that shook me up. It felt terrible to be at the mercy of someone else’s poor decision making.
After leaving the S&L, I worked a few temp accounting positions before deciding to go back into retail sales to figure out if the skill would help me experience greater success.
From Accountant to Retail Clothing Salesperson
Good news, the skill worked extremely well! In fact, I was top salesperson at a American Eagle Outfitters location, which led to a promotion.
Eventually, I was recruited by the store manager of Britches Great Outdoors, one of my favorite stores.
Although I loved working in retail sales because of getting to meet new people and make friends everyday, I wasn’t earning enough money.
My lack of earning enough money motivated me to return to accounting for a time, until I was able to find the right sales job.

In the meantime, I continued discovering more about the skill that I wholeheartedly believe is the single most important skill that top salespeople, brilliant marketers, and ingenious persuaders utilize to get us to buy – regardless of the economy.
The skill that top salespeople use to get us to sign on the dotted line. Marketers, to move products off the shelf. Effective persuaders, to move us to action.

Under $10 Per Hour to $2,500 In A Day
In the early 90s, I started using this skill by helping grow the #1 National Best Selling Author and America’s #1 Life and Business Strategist, Tony Robbins’ D.C. area franchise to number one.
I had finally found a sales job where it felt absolutely amazing to meet people, help them succeed at whatever they wanted in a shorter period of time, and earn considerably more money.
In fact, I went from earning under $10/hour in retail sales up to as much as $2,500 in day.
Anyway, as the number one producer in the franchise, I was tapped to travel the U.S. to sell into Tony’s live events. What an experience!
As a result, I had the privilege of training sales people and marketers at companies such as Century 21, Coldwell Banker, Dean Witter, Goldmine Software Corporation, New York Life, Cellular One, Lexus, Pitney Bowes, Prudential, and many others.
It has also been an honor and privilege to work on projects for Jay Abraham, Chet Holmes, Jay Conrad Levinson, Brian Tracy, and Brian Giese. Moving on.
What is this skill?
Influence. Think about it!
